Ballet Folklorico “El Valle” de St. Helena

Who are we?

Ballet Folklórico El "Valle" de St. Helena is a non-profit community group founded in 2010 by Alicia Sanchez (Martinez) with the mission to rescue, spread and showcase Mexican folklore through dance. This dance is deeply rooted in our ancestral origins, where traditions and body language transform into artistic expression.

The group’s practice emphasizes personal development, discipline, social interaction and creating a healthy space for community engagement and value-building. Dance serves as a creative, spiritual, social and transformative tool that encourages students to participate in cultural events, connecting them with aspects of human life and bringing us closer to our national folklore through traditional practices.

What we do?

Ballet Folklórico El Valle de St. Helena includes students of various ages: children (3 to 11 years), and youth/adults (12 years and older). The goal of the group is not just to showcase regional dances, but also to provide a space where children, youth, and adults can develop their abilities and talents, steering them away from drugs, alcoholism, depression, and excessive cell phone use.

Music and dance bring numerous benefits, such as improving memory, attention, and concentration; boosting creativity and imagination; stimulating motor skills and rhythm; and enhancing coordination, flexibility, and balance. They also foster social skills, self-esteem, and stress reduction.
